Pheasant Hunting Experience
The key to any successful hunt is access to good habitat and prime game. Thunderstik
Lodge hunts offer the best of both. You'll find expansive shelterbelts, native
prairie grass and assorted row crop. The inclusion of thousands of acres of
CRP has provided the perfect nesting habitat to make this the world's finest
pheasant hunting experience.
Then, of course, there are the famous South Dakota pheasants. Chamberlain and
Thunderstik are located in what South Dakotans refer to as "the golden triangle" —the
area in the central region of the state where it is believed more birds are reared
in the wild each year than any other place in North America.
You're Not Done Shooting?
Thunderstik Lodge offers hunters more than just pheasants. Hungarian partridge
add a unique flavor to a South Dakota hunt. For the waterfowlers, we offer prime
duck and goose hunting along the Missouri River. Thousands of Canadian geese
and North American ducks migrate through here every fall and while their arrival
is never predictable, one thing certainly is: It's an unforgettable experience.
And no trip to Thunderstik is complete without a round on our truly challenging
sporting clays course.
Early season hunters can enjoy excellent Walleye fishing on the Missouri. Or
guests may choose to visit the nearby Akta Lakota Museum and learn about local
history and native Americans.
Gun Dogs Supreme
The highlight of a Thunderstik hunt is, without question, our wonderful working
retrievers. They are our pride and joy. World-renowned trainers well versed in
the tradition of upland bird hunting have professionally and individually trained
each dog. Whether it's breaking through dense cover to put a rooster to wing,
or making a spectacular retrieve, our dogs are guaranteed to provide you with
an experience you will never forget.
For hunters who feel it just wouldn't be the same without their best companion
by their side, we're happy to provide kennels on site.
"This is my 3rd trip to Thunderstik and I
look forward to next year!"
