Canada Northern Pike Fishing

Canada Northern Pike Fishing

Canada Northern Pike produce chunky white Fillets that some anglers say taste as good as walleyes. The average size of a northern is 25 to 30 inches but trophy pike in Canada can exceed 50 inches. A close cousin to the Muskellunge, the Canada northern pike swim in most Canadian lakes and streams. The easiest way to tell a Canadian northern pike from a musky is to note that the northern pike has light markings on a dark background, while muskies generally have dark markings on a light background. Another method is to count the pores on the underside of the jaw. The northern pike in Canada has five or fewer while the musky has 6 or more.
